From the desk of the President

Uma M. Venugopal MSN, RN, CCRN-K

Dear AAIN-NJ2 Family,

Greetings to all members of AAIN-NJ2 and their families! Thank you for nominating me as the President for the term 2021-2022 and providing me an opportunity to serve. I am honored and privileged to be inducted as the 7th President of the American Association of Indian Nurses of New Jersey Chapter 2 (AAIN-NJ2).

The COVID-19 war today reminds me of the nursing history when Florence Nightingale led us then during the Crimean war. Looking back a year ago, 2020 was chosen to be the year of the nurse unknowingly for various reasons. What an honor to be part of this history! The year 2020 continuing into 2021 is truly dedicated to all nursing professionals who were the torch light bearers through this pandemic. Thank you, dear members, for the compassionate and dedicated care you provided and being part of this history. My sincere condolences for members and their family who have lost their lives fighting this pandemic. I sincerely thank all our family members for providing their love and support to help us get through this day by day as we move into the recovery phase.

I promise to stay committed and dedicated as our prior leaders, who have guided, strengthened, and believed in me to take this organization to the next level. I will be always available, accessible to lead, guide, and support everyone. The goal for the term is “Nurse’s voice matters” and together we will make our voice heard.
